Odds N Ends
Last weekend we heard there was supposed to be a great meteor shower one night. The moon was so bright that night, but the guys still saw a "shooting star" on the way home from church! So the kids and I decided to get up at 4 AM the next morning to watch for more. (See, we get up early for more than just Black Friday shopping!
) We saw 7 meteors in the 15 minutes we were outside! It was a cold morning and we didn't last longer than all that!! But it brought back memories of my childhood. Dad would lay down large sheets of plastic to protect us from dew and the WHOLE family would take our sleeping bags out and watch the meteor showers. [This usually took place in August] Then we would all sleep outside, too...well, some would end up on sofa's in the living room till morning!
But it was great fun!!

I randomly find pictures like this on my camera when I download the pics!!
Wednesday, well all week really, I was getting the house ready for Thanksgiving company. But Wed. I was trying to finish up grocery shopping and cleaning and making food. Dan called me his way home from work and said we should meet him in town at El Jalisco's for supper! The next day was the 15th anniversary of our engagement and we knew that with company coming, we probably wouldn't have time to celebrate. So we enjoyed a family supper out!
They had the train in town all decorated with lights for the holidays!!
I love the lights this time of year!!
Wed. night I made 2 shoofly pies [which ended up being too gooey!
]
And put the roast in the crock pot! Yeh, I didn't do turkey for thanksgiving!!
Also mixed up some Chex party mix for snacking! Mmmm!
We got the sad news Thanksgiving Day morning that our dear friend Phebe Martin had passed away during the early morning hours. I feel so sad for her husband and children, but on the other hand I had to smile when I thought of her lupus-ridden body free and could just see her dancing with her Saviour!!! She will be missed. It really doesn't seem real to me since we don't live up in PA anymore. I will remember Phebe....she was one of my favorite SS teachers at Womelsdorf, a dear friend who I got to spend time babysitting with while Good News went into the prisons at the crusades, she opened her home to us many times for meals, took time to encourage me when the children were little and just an all around kind woman!! Dear Cleason, our hearts ache with yours over the loss of your wonderful wife!
{Cleason is the "patriarch" of Good News...the group Dan used to sing with.} Please keep him in your prayers, especially tomorrow, the day of the funeral!
Thursday noon Dan's parents, 2 handicapped guys they keep and Dan's uncle arrived. Oh, yeh, and Sparky!!
Pop found a comfy pillow while watching football!
Friday morning Dan and I got up at 4 and did some Black Friday shopping! I was convinced after last year that I would never do that again, but we had a really good day!! Of course ending it with Starbucks is always a plus!!
I love shopping with my husband, but it's not as fun if you know you don't have much $$ to spend!
Wish I had taken more pics this weekend! *sigh* Got some video though! *smile*
Grandma and Tamara and Danny made pizza for supper Saturday night!
Tamara mixed up the dough....Danny and Grandma spread it on the pans and then we all fixed the toppings!
I am looking forward to this week! We are going to work at decorating for Christmas and I need to get my Tupperware ready to have a stand at the Farmer's Market on Saturday!! It is also the Prison Crusade and Danny will be celebrating his 12th birthday....so it'll be a FULL week once again!
Blessings to you....

@cerwindoris - Maybe I should have said too runny! I baked it a little longer than it called for since it seemed a little "jiggly" when the timer went off, but when we cut it, it was still like an ocean under there!
My shoofly pies get right about 50% of the time! That's not good!!
I didn't know that a shoofly pie can get too gooey! I love the random closeup. It looks like you had a wonderful day.
Enjoyed the pictures. The moon picture is beautiful! Praying for those who have a sad heart over the holidays. I have a friend who lost her mom over Christmas time and doesn't like that time of year ever since.
God bless your week!
That sounds like fun, sleeping out side when you were little! A friend and I started out on the tampoline one time during metior shower but we didn't know it was going on and she got scared so we went in side. lol
Love your Nov. 28 posting. The celestial photo is special
