  •  I have been keeping my eyes open for a wall cabinet for our bathroom and finally on Tuesday when Chris and I were shopping, I found one...it was a cheaper one, nothing high quality, but I am looking forward to having a little more storage in my bath!!
Well, I have been contemplating painting the master bath for awhile, but thought I'd do Tamara's room first. After I bought the cabinet, however, I thought it would make more sense to paint the bathroom before we hang it up. So last night I got paint and today......

    .....the bathroom went from this.....

    100_0637

    ...to this!

    100_0641

    And this.....

    100_0638

...to this! Dan would love a curved shower rod, but they cost so much....still thinking that one over! But I do hate to put the one we have back up, because if it ever gets moved, it peels the paint right off the wall!

The wall above the lower towel rack is where the wall cabinet will go...once the paint is not tacky anymore!

    100_0642

One more shot of the finished project.....except for the outlet and light switch covers.

    100_0643

So that was pretty much my whole day! I am happy with the results!!

  • Okay, so our electricity went off for no apparent reason and erased my post!!  The thunder storms we are having are not very close, so that shouldn't be the cause...you just never know in Blountstown!! LOL! Despite that, I thank God for the downpours we had tonight and for keeping me safe on the road when I went to town through those downpours!

So this morning I posted that I didn't have new pics...well, that wasn't totally true! I found some on my camera that I hadn't uploaded to my computer. So here are a few....
Friday we went to Camel Lake with some friends.... (that's Danny with the blue goggles on his head)
    100_0625

And Tamara...maybe watching for fish? The water was so warm and the sun was very hot. We had a great time and are looking forward to going back in July!

    100_0626

    Lunch time....

    100_0627

That evening the youth invited us to Caroline's house for game night. Danny and Tamara had fun riding on the pond in the canoe.

    100_0632

Us adults enjoyed a long, lively game of Apples to Apples! It was great to have some of Caroline's relatives and two of the town kids there as well! Especially since so many were gone other places!!

    100_0633

Today was a good day!! Met my sister Chris in Tallahassee and we spent the day shopping, had lunch at Panera Bread and got Starbucks iced coffee for the ride home! I am so thankful at least one of my sister's lives so near me!
And a BIG thank you to Amy Y. for letting the kids stay at her house while I was gone!! They had lots of fun!!
Off to bed....while the thunder rumbles on!!

  • Day of Shopping :)

Today I am meeting my "southern sister" in Tallahassee and we are going to shop...and eat lunch to celebrate her birthday which was on Sunday! I don't have a big list, so it should mostly be just fun!

My camera has not been remembering to go with me lately, so I don't have any recent pics of interest!

Yesterday the kids and I met Judy Belc and her kids at 4 Mile Creek. The water was cool, since it is a spring fed creek, but we all had a good time. There is a rope swing there that the kids had a ton of fun on (see where the camera would have come in handy ) Judy & I set our chairs in the water and visited in comfort....and style?? LOL!

It has been near or over 100 degrees every day for the last week! Looks like there is a chance to see some slightly cooler temps and possibly rain this week. We will be grateful!

Well, I need to leave, so adios till next time!! *waves*

  • Randomness from VBS

VBS started each night at 5:30.
Most of the VBS committee was there a lot of the day preparing....I went at 3 most days to help them.

Jeremy getting all the clues ready to be placed at the right spots...
    100_0498

Ruth Ann & Caroline making invisible clues that could only be read if they were colored over lightly.

    100_0451

Ally preparing another wonderful and cute snack!!

    100_0497

Each evening started with a skit....
(So thankful my hubby doesn't always have a beard like that!! )
Dan was King Saul and Samuel was David..

    100_0505

    Here comes Goliath....

    100_0504

    David winding up his sling.....

    100_0507

One of the stations was the Scriptorium...this is where they learned a memory verse every night. (Dan & I were leaders for the yellow team!)

    100_0427

Another station was the Historical Encounter tent. This is where they met the main character from the skit and learned a little more about his life.

    100_0439

A cute snack....Davids sling and 5 smooth stones...well, the plates did have 5. Maybe someone at some off of here??

    100_0496

Another station was Character Counts. This is were the team leaders had to take 15 minutes to teach about the character quality for that night.

    100_0443

And the last station was the Obstacle Course. This one was lots of fun!

    100_0433

Pulling themselves from one side to the other on a skateboard using rope.....two people would go...

    100_0467

and then one of them had to take both skateboards back for the next two people. All the Obstacle Course activities were timed to see which team had the best score.

    100_0471

Everyone loved the O.C. Friday night.....
Ally giving directions...she took Pierre's place since he couldn't be there.

    100_0525

They started out by doing jumping jacks over balloons....one balloon was popped from a previous team...

    100_0527

    ...then crawling over pool noodles.....

    100_0526

.....running over a two sets of benches....

    100_0528

    .....walking over a "balance beam"....

    100_0530

    ...hopping through hula hoops.....

    100_0532

...and then diving thorough a hanging hula hoop (the first team through broke it ) and landing on a mattress....

    100_0534

    100_0543

then they had to do a crab crawl back to start and do the whole thing all over again!! THey loved it! Some of the older guys did it 6 times!

The second night our team won the dig/finding the artifact of the night...

    100_0437

After every one found their artifact, we met back at our stations in the front yard and heard the times for each team on the Obstacle Course and had closing prayer.

    100_0494

What a fun week...the committee did a SUPER job coming up with the whole program and everyone, even the leaders, had a great time!! So VBS 2009 came to a close!! I have lots more pictures, but I had to stop somewhere!!

June 9, 2009

  •  The other night Danny made coffee for us....I had to laugh when I saw their Webkinz sitting there watching it brew!!
    100_0362

Friday night was Emily Redmond's graduation.....I was asked to take pictures, so here are just a few...

    100_0366

    100_0368

Emily and her parents....Dan & Nancy.

    100_0382

    Guests....

    100_0391

    100_0392

    Friends forever....Ally, Emily and Caroline

    100_0399

    Cute lil' Landon

    100_0401

Saturday morning I went to a Baby Shower for Sherry Yoder. Only a few more weeks.....

    100_0408

We had a fun relay! You had to hold a baby, be talking on the phone and either hang up or take down wash off the line!

    100_0406

Thanks to Misty for hosting it and to Yolie, Carol and whoever all else planned it!

Last night was our first night of VBS. Major props to Scott and Amy, Jeremy, Ally, and Caroline for making up their own theme...it's great! We are doing an Archeological Theme, where the kids meet a character (beginning skit), learn about his/her character qualities, memorize scripture in the Scriptorium, decipher clues and find artifacts! The kids are divided up into four teams and each team has their own flag...Dan & I are leaders of the yellow team . The kids carry the flag with them everywhere they go and we must stay together as a team at all times!
Last night was about Joseph....Jacob (Dan) was giving Joseph (Samuel) his Coat of many Colors...

    100_0409

Joseph with three of his jealous brothers who were NOT interested in hearing about his dreams.

    100_0410

    Obstacle Course....
Bear was in charge of the obstacle course...the kids had to "bat" a football across the "field" with a stick then the next person in line did it....they were timed to see which team did it fastest!

    100_0413

Then they had to walk across the field sideways with a balloon sandwiched between their backs without dropping it. Our team did not win timewise, but they did great, I think!

    100_0415

At the Historical Encounter...where they got to meet the main character and learn more about his life....they had to take notes because they needed to know a few facts he shared later on in the night.

    100_0417

The Scriptorium....they had clues to figure out their memory verse and then they worked at memorizing it for later in the evening....

    100_0418

The clue to decipher from the Scriptorium led them to this room, where Ruth Ann listened to their verse and gave them tickets for the "dig" at the end.

    100_0420

After this, we went outside to the Charater Counts area (no pic) where Dan taught them more about the theme for the night...perseverance.
Then at 7:40, everyone met at the "Dig site"...this was a race. Each team had their little dig area and when they found the hidden paper in it, they ran back to the beginning post for the night (the front yard), deciphered the clue, went and searched for the hidden coat of many colors (there were 4 hidden, 1 for each team) and then raced back to the front yard and planted their teams flag in the ground. Congrats to the red team for winning!!

    100_0421

Looking forward to another busy night!! Tonight we are learning about Gideon and having Faith....

  • Pavilion Construction at Church 5-30-09

There has been talk at church for a little while about putting up a pavilion. It finally got voted on and passed. So, they got right to work to get it set up before VBS next week! They asked for as much help as possible last Saturday and had a great turnout! Jonas and Kenny had the main poles set up, but the rest of the work was done that day!!

The concrete floor is poured and tonight some men were leveling the ground all around it....maybe an "after" picture could be arranged. This will be so nice to utilize next week during VBS! Thanks to all the men (and boys) who helped make this happen...and so quickly!

May 30, 2009

  • What a lovely weekend so far! We had rain scattered throughout the first part of the week, but yesterday was a beautiful day! As is today!
Friday morning Dan continued with the project of taking down the fence around the front of our yard...it was getting dilapidated. It was hard to tell till storms came through and knocked the aluminum part off the wood posts! Some of the aluminum posts had burst, from what, I don't know?? I will quite enjoy mowing without it in the way, though! But I do like the looks of fence, so....I guess it's good and not so good?

    101_0217

Danny is a good helper when it comes to outside projects with Dad!

    101_0215

Spraying inside the fences to kill wasps. We found quite a few nests, but thankfully no one got stung!

    101_0220

While I worked in the flower bed, Tamara took over the camera...here are a few pics she took....
Danny...is he showing off his tool or threatening her??

    101_0235

Mocha...he had a great time running all around!

    101_0239

Proof that I was actually working...

    101_0245

After lunch, we went to the Wesselhoeft's to swim and cool off!
     Tamara taking a dive...

    101_0252

Dan relaxing....his body looks quite small, doesn't it? LOL!!

    101_0253

    And there goes Danny....

    101_0254

The kids had fun snorkeling, too. They liked to watch each other jump off the diving board under water to see how far down they went.

    101_0255

We were invited to join the youth in the evening for a Potato Bar at church, followed by the movie, "Faith Like Potatoes".....a very good movie!!
Hard at work getting the bacon fried and the rest of the fixin's ready!

    101_0262

I entertained Collin for a bit. Someone else had my camera for most of the evening before supper, so these next few pics are compliments of ??Sammy, Beth?? not sure who else?

    101_0277

Beth peacin' out while Hannah hides her face...

Dan took a turn babysitting Collin...he put him to sleep carrying him like this!

    101_0296

    Caroline preparing the mixed drinks!

    101_0299

Got my camera back...I like when others take pics, too...to get a different perspective! There were a few more I would have loved to post, but for the sake of keeping friends, well.....

Time to chow....and it was good!

    101_0300

I took a cake along to celebrate Dan's birthday which was Wednesday.

    101_0301

    The clean-up crew! Thanks guys!!

    101_0303

Karaoke time with Sean and Ian...so cute!

    101_0305

    Getting ready for the movie...

Happy 35th Birthday to my man!!

Wishing you all the best in the years to come! May your dreams come true!

I'm so glad I got to spend 15 of those 35 years with you!! Looking forward to many more!
And I won't even mention what's coming in 5 more! LOL!!!

  •  Sunday afternoon we sat outside. I noticed our gardenia bush was blooming...the flowers have a very strong scent!
    101_0182

Tamara wondered if she could take a picture, so I let her. She took this one of the "weeds" in my flower bed. They were too pretty to pull out, so I left them go! I probably should pull them out soon before they go to seed, or I could have a problem on my hands!!

    101_0188

    Tamara.....

    101_0185

    Danny....

    101_0189

This is the reason we were sitting out on the porch...waiting for our company to come!! And here they come...my aunt and uncle, Harvey & Marlene Horst rode down on their motorcycle from PA. They road with another couple and split ways in GA to come visit us and Dwayne's, then were meeting back up with their friends for the rest of their trip!

    101_0191

Monday Dan had off work, so we took Harvey's out and showed them around Blountstown, oh, great town that it is! LOL!! We went by the Pioneer Settlement and they had the gates open. A man was working there and so we stopped and asked if we could walk around a little. He so kindly let us...usually they charge $6 adults for a tour, but since we walked around ourselves, I guess they didn't care?
Dan was calling to this pretty peacock and it would answer back! They are so loud!!

    101_0192

I liked it's pretty head feathers!

    101_0193

    The kids by a garden....

    101_0194

It was also Harvey's 35th wedding anniversary! Congratulations you two!!

    101_0195

After lunch it seemed like there was going to be a short break in the rain/storms, so they decided it was best to leave then to avoid as much rain as possible!

    101_0198

And there they go again....it was so good to have them here even if for a short stay!! We made some good memories!!

    101_0201
