  • Today...

    Outside my window...it's sunny and breezy with a high in the low 80's. The farmer next door is disking the field behind our house and is being followed by the white egrets hoping for some turned-up bugs!! happy ....and there is wash flapping on the line.

    I am thinking...that I love days where I can just stay home and keep marking things off my to-do list.

    I am thankful for... the blessings that my husband and kids are to me. The kids are turning into great helpers around the house!!

    From the learning rooms...We are finished with English for the year!!!!  cool But we are doubling up some Math lessons to keep things moving. The kids could spend ALL DAY in science and history!!

    From the kitchen...I cleaned out my Tupperware cupboard, kept some things out for yard sale and then washed the shelves and put everything neatly back in. Also cleaned out two of the drawers in the bar and wiped them out. One small project off my to-do list....did you know I love to be able to X things off my list? winky

    I am wearing...a long denim skirt and a purple t-shirt....and socks! Because I hate walking barefoot on my kitchen floor when it's not clean! silly

    I am going...to take the kids to their 2nd to last Tae Kwon Do class in an hour.

    I am reading...I am on Day 258 of reading my Bible through in a year. Sadly, this is the first time I have ever done that!! (My hubby and kids are also doing it and it amazes me what the kids can remember and pick up. Sometimes I think they understand more than I do....or their perception is better??)

    I am hoping...that God's will continues to be clear in our lives....Dan will be done with his degree in a year. Then what!??

    Around the house...there seem to be messes everywhere and TOO MUCH CLUTTER (that's why I made a HUGE to-do list, that I love making smaller!!) winky One load of wash in the dryer to be folded and one in the washer to be dried and one on the line to be brought in and folded!

    Picture for the Day...

    Don't be afraid to stand alone! If God is for us, who can be against us? -Romans 8:31b

  • Spring Time

     So much has been going on in our lives lately. I post things on facebook and then feel like I'm repeating myself when I post here. So if you are my facebook friend, please overlook my repetitiveness! (Whew, that was a hard word to spell!!) winky

    First, I'll tell you about the things I have pictures for....

     Last night Dan picked up some seeds on his way home from work so we could start planting garden.
    A little history first.....

    When we moved south we had our neighbor man plow up a garden spot for us. The first year we planted lots of greens and tomato's and a few other things. Well, the fire ants and the heat made me dislike gardening VERY MUCH!!! So, sad to say, Dan did most of the work in the garden (I did some canning and freezing, though) So we decided no more garden. I was NOT interested in battling with ants all the time (at that point, we were not keeping after the ant hills, so they were kind of out of control!!) And the heat, oh!! The HEAT!! My blood was just too thick, me thinks! happy

     Well, last year, our neighbors plowed up a big garden behind our garage and invited us to plant whatever we wanted. We did do some watermelon and something else that got all vined over by the watermelons!! silly They were so kind as to let us harvest some of their crops when they felt like they had too much!! Our "Neighbors", are an older couple who live alone, and also attend our church. So the two of them don't eat that much!!

     Fast forward to this year. Jonas put manure on the garden and got it plowed up real nice again. They planted a big garden and told us we can use the rest of the space for ourselves. I figured we'd probably not plant much.......BUT THEN.....

     I'm going to "blame" a brother-in-law here!! JK!! winky But we have been hearing so much about all the preservatives and other bad stuff added to our food and are seeing the importance of eating better....for our health, and our children's!!

    So this is where we are now. We are not going hog wild, just planting a little bit for now. (Hoping to do some fall gardening too)

     Jonas' keep their tiller over here at our garden and gave us permission to use it. Well, we could NOT get it started!!! clueless We have a little bitty one that's been sitting in the garage for awhile and that one wouldn't start either.....

    So we went old-fashioned!! happy Good work out!!

    We only had enough daylight left to get enough space hoed and raked for two rows of beans.

    We planted one row of baby lima's and one of regular lima's. Dan also bought some zipper peas to plant, but they will get planted next week. I'd also like to try some onions and lettuce, but I think they may have to wait till Fall!!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am so glad we got kittens for the kids!! They love them. It's funny how Tamara has her favorite and Danny his....
     A pregnant Fluffy and Tamara....
    Danny and Bozo like to climb the tree in the front yard together!pleased
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    A big project I started last weekend and finished this week, was painting Tamara's bedroom. She has been waiting so patiently for this day!! Her walls were just plain white. She wants a horse theme so we debated what color to go with for the walls since her carpet is pink. I picked out a pink and a brown and figured we'd do two walls of each color.....so we started~

     Danny wiped the baseboard clean....

    While Tamara brushed the walls.

    The kids did all the rolling the first day, except for up at the ceiling, and I did all the edge work.

    Turns out the brown I got looked more like Gold and it was just nasty!! It was not at all what I had pictured. Someone said it well when they said I was looking for a "paper bag" brown. So we stopped with two pick walls. Then the question was, do we do it all pink (I didn't think that would be cool since her carpet is pink), do we go with a chocolate brown (afraid that would make her room too dark) or find another shade of brown.

     Monday we went to Walmart and I picked out another brown. I am happy with how it turned out! It really goes good with her curtains, for not taking any samples along to the store!! shocked

     So here is the finished product. Well, we still need to decorate and organize some more, but the painting is done.....whew!!!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Last week I talked to my sister in GA and she told me my nephew was going to be at a church near them singing with a chorale from the Bible School he had been at for 6 weeks. Dan had off work on Friday, so we left here around 3:30, stopped and got some supper and then continued on to Meigs. We got around a little early, so we ran by my sister's house till it was time to go to church.
    I was so thrilled to see that he had the same chorale director as I did when I attended that same Bible School back in 1995!! stunned pleased Dan Schrock was my favorite director that year!! He was so much fun. The year I was at MBS, his wife was sick. I think she had cancer, and we found out she passed away about 3 months after we came home from Bible School. sad BUT, this is so neat!! His second wife, Ruth B, from Canada, is not a stranger to me! When our youth choir went on tour to Canada in 1994, I stayed at her house overnight. Her husband had died a few years earlier when his aorta burst, if I remember right. She didn't remember me, and I probably wouldn't have remembered her, except for the fact that I took pictures!! winky A couple years later, she came to PA with a choir from Canada and stayed at my parents house...and that she did remember! happy So it was so cool that the two of them got married!! heart
    Dan & Ruth Schrock
    These 3 guys stayed with my sister and b-i-l that night. They had to leave pretty early the next morning to head to Sarasota.
    John M. ~ My nephew, Kevin Z,  ~ Steven Shirk
    Saturday we went into Pelham to see where the Martin's new restaurant will be opening soon!! happy
     Isn't that the coolest old building?? What you can't see is the big dome on top and the spacious, spookiness of the whole place!! winky It is being remodeled and I think they are hoping to put some businesses in there. The restaurant will be in the bottom left corner.
    A peak inside....
    Can't wait till they open!!
    Some friends of theirs were down from WI? IN? MI? I'm not sure, but from the cold north!! laughing They brought "her" car....and let us take it for a spin...or for spin(s). We had a great time!
    Nicole at the wheel. She had to behave with her Mom sitting right behind her! winky
    My sis, Chris and I enjoying the windy ride....
    Dan took the younger girls for a ride....lets just say, I think there were some people speeding that day!! surprised laughing
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    A few weekends ago, we went to the Air Show at the Tyndall Air Force Base.

    One of the WWII stunt planes~

    Dan and the kids behind a HUGE cargo jet!! That thing was just.....HUGE!! It's hard to imagine something so big and so heavy flying in the sky!!

    This cool little plane landed on top of the camper while it was driving down the runway!! pleased

    And this was my favorite part of the show....a jet powered bus that went 331 MPH. That could get your kids to school fast! winky

    And the Thunderbirds put on a good show at the end!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A pretty Luna moth on the screen outside my kitchen!
    Wow, this post is taking me longer than I thought it would!!
     On Monday I am going for a consultation to the Dr. who is planning to do my gallbladder surgery. I will find out then exactly which day it will be done. Hoping it can be done that week yet!
     I had a HIDA scan done Monday, almost 2 weeks ago, and it showed that my gallbladder is only working at 17%. So I guess that explains why I was feeling so nauseated and having so much stomach ache! I am ready to eat normal again, although I DID lose 10.5 lbs!! happy
     Tonight we took the kids to eat at Pizza Hut to use the second to last of their Book-It coupons. After eating we drove out to the Park and took a walk and just enjoyed the beautiful evening. It was such a hot day, but tonight was lovely.
     Tomorrow Dan is sharing the message at church, followed by our bi-monthly Fellowship meal. I made Deviled Eggs and Blueberry Delight to take along . Wanna come??? happy Then we are going to spend the afternoon and evening with friends, boating, fishing and just hanging out!! happy
     Y'all have a blessed and relaxed Sunday....and Happy Spring!!
  • I'm thinking it's high time for another update.....I got my USB cord, but it seems the camera is the problem, not the cord!! sad I guess that's what I get for buying used on Ebay!! wtf
     Here are two hints of what has been keeping us busy the last few days.......
       AND waiting for this to happen....
    I'd say painting is the more fun of the two!!
  •
    I love Spring....all the new green growth and the FLOWERS!! happy One of my favorites is wisteria. It is blooming all over the place right now. This isn't a real good picture...I just stopped along the road one day and took it. I love how it is vined all through the trees, but I realize it can be a pain too. Regardless, it looks and smells wonderful!!
    Last Friday our homeschool group went on a field trip to Faith Radio and the Jr. Museum in Tallahassee.
    Faith Radio.....
    We got there in plenty of time, so the kids had time to visit and we even practiced the songs we were going to sing.
    Tamara with her friends Bethany and Anna.
    Billy Farran, one of the volunteers with GEMS prison ministry, got this field trip arranged for us. He is good friends with the station manager and is there quite often. We were the 2nd group he had taken in this month.
     Before we went inside we all gathered in a circle for prayer.
    Scott B....the station manager and DJ, doing his thing!
    Kay told a little about our group and each of the kids and parents got to say their name. The kids also said their age! winky
    The kids sang two songs. Scott asked for the title of the first song and Kay told him it was "Absolutely Nothing". That got some laughs!! :) The second song was taken from Isaiah 41:10, "Do not Fear". The kids did a great job for only practicing 3 times! And we don't normally sing together, so I wasn't sure how that would go. But it was great!
    The tower that sends the signal! :)
    That's the group...minus a few parents!
    From there we went to the Jr. Museum in Tallahassee
     Loved the dogwoods that were blooming there!!
    In a 1-room schoolhouse.
    The girls singing in the church....love their different expressions! happy laughing
    I imagine in a few weeks this garden will be full of color!
    The garden was in front of this big house....LOVED the front porch!!
    These buckets were pretty heavy (and they weren't even filled with water!!) Tamara didn't think she would like that job!
    After we toured the old village, we went through the animal exhibits.....
     It was after lunch and most of the animals were just relaxed and calm! Some were hiding somewhere probably sleeping.
     A wolf~
    Bro. Billy trying out his "wings". This was the pattern one kind of goose (I think??) flies.
    A bald Eagle ....love their majesty!
    ~A panther~
    This was part of the trail we took through the animal exhibits.
    Ally-gator pleased
    There was a room full of different things for the kids to do and see.....
     After the field trip, the kids and I drove to my friend Candice's house. She was having ladies there to help arrange bouquets and corsages for the Ladies Fundraiser Tea the next day. We had fun and got a lot accomplished. Dan came and picked Danny up and they spent the night with one of the board members while Tamara and I stayed with Candice and her daughters and her sister-in-law and her daughter, for the night. We ordered pizza in for supper and just spent the evening relaxing and talking!! cool It was fun just having a "girls night"!
     Candice and I got up early the next morning to get over to the Golden Eagle Country Club to set up for the Tea. Some of the men from GEMS (Gospel Express Ministries South) were there to set up the sound and help carry heavy items. The country club had all the tables set and ready, we just had to decorate them.
     I have pictures, but they are on my other camera, which I am waiting for a USB cord for. Hopefully I can post them soon! The cord should get here today or tomorrow!! So I think I will stop for now....I can tell more about the Tea with the pictures!!
  • My Day
    5:30 AM- after hitting the snooze a time or two I got out of bed, packed Dan's lunch and had my devotions...
    6-7 AM- computer time....I am slowly catching up on my emails. I had 200 NEW emails and close to 900 in my inbox! I know, I know!!
    8:00 - Kids and Mom are up and dressed....eating breakfast. happy Cinnamon Toast Crunch this morning! And a glass of Vitamin C....
    9:00 -School starts...an hour and 15 of Math....and then break time. Back again in about 10 minutes....2 pages in English (they are working through the same book on parts of speech) We are on Prepositions. Today it was finding the noun/pronoun that the preposition is talking about. Then Tamara did a page in her cursive writing book while Danny copied another days lesson from his copy work book.
     The poem he is copying, which Tamara informed me she had to do earlier in the year, really tugged at my heart....I'd like to share it with YOU!
    You Forgot My Soul
    You lived next door to me for years;
    We shared our dreams, our joys and tears.
    A friend to me you were indeed;,
    A friend who helped me when in need.
    My faith in you was strong and sure,
    We had such trust as should endure.
    No "words" between us could impose;
    Our friends were like - and so, our foes.
    What sadness, then, my friend, to find
    That after all, you weren't so kind.
    The day my life on earth did end,
    I found you weren't a faithful friend.
    For all those years we spent on earth,
    You never talked of second birth.
    You never spoke of my lost soul
    And of the Christ Who'd make me whole.
    I'm lost today eternally
    And tell you now my ernest plea.
    You cannot do a thing for me -
    No words today my bonds will free.
    But - do not err, my friend, again -
    Do all you can for souls of men.
    Plead with them now quite ernestly,
    Lest they be cast in hell with me.
    What a good, but sobering reminder!!
    I am really liking the copy work books I got for the kids this year. Thematic Copywork for Boys and Thematic Copywork for Girls They have so many good quotes from famous people, quotes about character, good poems and lots of scriptures.
    That concluded our "book work" for the day.
    12:00- Danny announced that he would like to make lunch, so I left him to work alone! happy I think his sister hung around to cheer him on...no, they really like to do things like this together. She likes to be there just for company's sake. She doesn't mind if he does all the work!! winky And he doesn't either for that matter!
    Macaroni and Cheese and Hotdogs were our lunch! silly
    While they were doing that, I was doing some more research about curriculum for next year! Oh joy!!
    2:15 PM - Left the house.....stopped at the PO to ship two more Ebay sales. Dropped off Tea tickets and graded Bible Studies with a friend and then went to RCC (RiverTown Community Church) for our second week of Tae Kwon Do with our homeschool group!!
     We are doing this as a 6 week class. A young lady who used to attend our church and who is a black belt, consented to teach us basic self defense. We will have our "white belt" till we are done!! winky I'm telling you, the exercise part of it is about to beat my tail!!
     We start out by doing LOTS of stretches!! We have to touch the floor with our hands....then spread our feet farther and try to get our elbows on the ground! (Or, if you are flexible like Ashleigh, you can put your elbows on the floor in the first stance!!!stunned) I am NOT there yet!!! Ouia! That pulls in the back of my legs!!
    There are 3 of us Mom's taking the class!! laughing
    Tamara looks like she is in extreme pain!! shocked happy We were supposed to be pulling our feet towards our body...
    More stretches.....
    This is one of the weird stretches....called a fish flop....and it looks like a bunch of fish, too!! laughing
    We learned all the basic kicks and blocks these first two weeks. Now I feel like a genuine Karate Kid.......NOT!! Haha....more like a bruised Granny!
    4:00 PM - Class is over, and we are joined by a few other families to practice singing. On Friday we are going on a field trip to a Christian Radio station in Tallahassee and we are going to sing 2 songs on the air!! cool So, if you are local, tune in to 90.1 at 10 AM Central time and you may hear us! shy Or listen online .
     Amy, the lady in black on the right, got the songs together and is the leader. However, we found out today that she is needed in NC over the weekend, so Emily G. (lady to her left) is taking over.....whew!! Glad I don't have to!
    Silas chillin' with his Momma's phone...
    Practicing a somewhat "sane" standing arrangement....
    4:45 PM- Home again....making supper.
    5:00 PM- Hear shooting outside our house.....two neighbor guys are shooting a snake on the road out in front of our place!! stunned We looked at it later and aren't sure what kind it was....kind of reminded me of a rattlesnake, but there were no rattles!??
    5:30 PM- Eating supper....hamburger stroganoff it was! And a salad!
    6:30 PM- The family is going for a bike ride....a 45 minute bike ride! If I thought I was sore already, this has only added to it. I might stay in bed all day tomorrow!!!
    Pretty much goofed off the rest of the evening....the dishes will wait till tomorrow (that is if I can get out of bed!!)
     So now, it's time to get everyone in bed.....that was a glimpse into my day!! heart Tomorrow will probably be totally different! happy Big stuff coming up this weekend!! Yay!!
  • What a change in the weather!! Last night got down to 38 here. We haven't seen the 30's for a couple weeks. We haven't had to run the heat for a couple weeks either, but last night we did....it got quite chilly in here!
     I never did get back on here to write more last week. I had something on my heart that I wanted some input on, but I have not been gifted in eloquent "speech" and when I type stuff like that it just doesn't come out right....and later I think of bits and pieces I should have added or things I shouldn't have wrote. I think I like to talk one on one better. But, I know there are many of you, my Xanga friends, who could give me good feedback! Maybe I'll try one day!?? {#emotions_dlg.happy}
     I'm loving this Spring weather we've been having! I need to take my camera along next time we go to town and get some pics of all the trees in bloom! So pretty!!
     Last Tuesday was the kids last sign language class. They learned quite a bit and can talk faster than I can follow!! I'm glad they had this opportunity to learn a bit of signing...but now I should keep them brushed up on it, so they don't forget what they learned!!
     Friday was Park Day for our homeschool group and we had a big turnout again! A bunch of us Mom's took a walk around the .8 mile track around the park...some walked, some rollerbladed. I think I should learn how to rollerblade. It's not that much different from ice skating, right?? {#emotions_dlg.silly} Except I don't know if I could ice skate anymore either!! HAHA!
     Saturday morning Tamara and I went to yard sales and thrift stores with a friend and her daughter. We had lots of fun and I was able to get some clothes for both the kids!! The local Pioneer Settlement had their fundraising Rummage Sale! SO MUCH STUFF!!!! {#emotions_dlg.stunned} It was kind of fun there, really full of people, but I found a few good deals.
     Then we came home and did some cleaning and babysitting. Dan had a BUSY week! He is finishing up another semester of school and had a big paper due last week. So, every night last week he worked at the paper! He got it done Saturday late afternoon and was ready to do something fun to rest his mind from all that research! Well, soon after he said that, our friends, Eric and Yolie called and asked us to come over for soft pretzels. Who could turn that down?? {#emotions_dlg.happy}  So after the kids left that we were keeping,we went up to their house. Had a good time visiting and took a ride in Eric's loud pickup. It started raining about the time we decided to go for a ride, so we went anyway and got a little wet!! {#emotions_dlg.laughing} Good memories!!
     Today we worked at school in the AM....might still do a little history this afternoon. Tonight we pick up with our Ladies Encouragement Night. We had missed a few months since Heidi was living at the beach while Rocky had a job there. But they are done with that (mostly) so we are back to our monthly Bible Studies again. I am looking forward to that!
     Tomorrow we are starting a 6 week Tae Kwon Do class.....should be quite interesting!! {#emotions_dlg.winky} Our homeschool group is also practicing 2 songs that we will be singing at our local radio station in 2 weeks! Another first for us....I know I'll be nervous! {#emotions_dlg.silly}
     Work awaits, so I shall close for now! Y'all have a great week!!
    Some pretty sunsets last week!!
  • A touch of spring outside our house.... laughing
    Yesterday the kids and I went to Tallahassee to spend some time with my friend Candice and her kids.
    I was trying to remember how/when I first met Candice. I think it was through GEMS (Gospel Express Ministries South). Candice coordinates and plans 2 yearly fundraisers for GEMS, a Ladies Tea in the spring and a Banquet in the fall. I'm sure you've seen my pictures from those events before. She has extreme talent in that area. Candice is also a sister in law to my friend, Kay. In the past 2 years we have become closer friends and I enjoy spending time with her. She has a kind, quiet spirit about her!
     We went with the intent for me to teach her how to sell on Ebay and accomplished that! Then we also had time to just visit and she showed me what all she is putting together for the Tea! Bless her heart, it's a lot of work!!
     The kids had a fun time! Not sure what they all were doing on the top bunk? winky
    The table set for dinner! Tamara said she felt like she was in a mansion!! winky pleased
    Lena and Tamara playing a Wii game with animals ....just the perfect thing for girls this age!! happy
    Danny and Logan playing games on the DS. They also had fun playing outside in the beautiful sunshine!!
    Realized I didn't get a picture of Candice or sweet little Leia! whatevah
     On the way home, I started feeling kind of shaky, so we stopped for gas and I got something to eat and drink. When we were almost home, I all of a sudden had a dizzy spell wash over me! I quick pulled off the road and had to sit there a few minutes till I felt well enough to keep going! sad Tamara also complained of being dizzy and Danny didn't feel well for a little while. I don't know if we had some kind of a virus or what. I didn't eat supper and laid on the couch for awhile. Till bedtime I felt better. Strange!! silly
    This week I got a flat of strawberries from Marilu W. So I made 4 batches of freezer jam. 3 of just strawberry and 1 of strawberry-blueberry. Mmmm!!
    Danny adding the Certo and Lemon juice mixture to the strawberries and sugar....
    All that SUGAR!!! surprised But it's sooo good!!
    The finished product....minus one half container that was in the fridge. When I took them out to the freezer, I realized we still have quite a bit from previous years. Guess we need to either eat more jelly bread, or share!!
    Don't know how well you can tell the difference between these next two pictures? The were taken different times of the day but only 4 days apart. The leaves have really shot out of our Crabapple tree and the grass is getting more green by the day! happy
    Well, I'm not done, but we need to leave for the kids last sign language class. Might blog more tomorrow. We also have our Mom's Night Out tonight, so I won't be home much the rest of the day! happy ~Later!!
  • More Plagues....
     Well, we are a few days behind....we were supposed to do these next 2 lessons on Wed. and Thursday, but we have a good (I think) excuse for waiting till today!! I'll tell about it at the end.
     So today the kids each did 2 lessons in Math, since we are going to go spend the day on Monday with a friend in Tallahassee. happy Then we did our history/Bible, learning about the next of the 10 plagues that God sent on Pharoah and the Egyptians. Danny was glad when I read that God protected the Israelites from these plagues. He just didn't think that sounded fair if they had to experience the plagues too....then he wondered if Moses and Aaron were also spared from the plagues. I didn't read that anywhere, but I am guessing they were??
    A plague of flies has hit the Henry kids....and the love seat!! :) At least they weren't buzzing and crawling all over us!
    Pharoah asked for Moses to go and make a sacrafice to his God and have these flies be gone. {You'd think he would have learned his lesson after dealing with gnats the day before....ugh!}
     Can you imagine (at least those of us who live in the gnatty south) if all the grains of dust turned into gnats?? We think we have it bad some days!! They'd be all up in your nose, in your ears, crawling over your eyes....and lets not think how many would get in your mouth!! shocked (By the way, the gnats were the first plague that the Egyptian magicians were not able to copy!!)
     So, God takes away the flies....it said not a one was left! BUT, Pharoah STILL had a hard heart. The next day......
    The Egyptians woke up and fed their animals like every morning before....
    but imagine their horror when they found them sick and dead!!
    I've often wondered how the Egyptians felt about all this....were they getting mad at the Pharoah for not letting these Israelites go?? Or were they just as wicked? Hmmm....
     More to come next week......
    Oh, and the reason we skipped a few days. On Wed. we had a lady coming to look at our mattress we were trying to sell. She wanted to come right over the time when we usually have history. I really didn't want her to show up and see flies stuck all over the kids! winky laughing Ended up, she never showed, but another lady came an hour later and till then it was time to be getting supper ready, so we decided to just push it off till Thursday since we have a very light work load in history this week.
     Well, the second lady paid for the mattress and boxspring and said she'd come pick it up later that night. Then in the evening she called and changed her mind and said they would come between 2 and 2:30 on Thursday. Again, I didn't want the same thing to happen....I was going to make the kids keep the flies on from History time till their Dad got home, just so he could see them. So we figured we'd wait till she comes and then proceed. Well, it ended up being 4:00 till she ever showed! So, Today was the day!! happy And I did not make them keep the flies on! They said it felt weird and Dan won't be home till late tonight, since he went to a conference today.
    Last evening the kids and I went to my friend Jill's house to show her and her blogging daughters how to change the background on their Xanga sites....in exchange for Jill teaching me how to make a "messy bum bun". Time went by too fast!! But we had success on both ends! laughing
     Leah and her "messy bun" Haha!! She was just being silly!! winky
     I am going to add the video that Leah took of Jill doing my hair....I just need to do it on another computer. My desktop has been acting wonky with video's!! silly
     In a few minutes I need to run to the P.O. to ship some Ebay stuff and then go pick up a flat of strawberries [from South FL] and make some JELLY!! happy Mmmm, Mmmm!! I think we we may have to have some ice cream with strawberries as a late snack when Dan gets home tonight! happy
  • Plagues-Ugh!!
    Today in History/Bible we are learning about the 10 plagues in Egypt, brought on by Pharoah's hardened heart.
     The first plague God sent was having the water turned to blood.
    I didn't think it necessary to draw blood from anyone, so we settled for food coloring! winky
     Danny didn't think it looked to appetizing (I thought it looked like Kool Aid! laughing)
    I cannot imagine going out to bathe in the morning only to find the water replaced with blood.....or taking my bucket out to the well, only to draw up a bucket full of blood. I think that would be enough to make me repent right then and there....a good sign my heart is still partly soft. ;)
    The blood supposedly stank...I can just imagine!
    Tamara got brave enough to take a taste....
    How interesting that the magicians were also able to make this happen. :O
    The second plague was the FROGS! Frogs, frogs everywhere!! In their houses, in their hair, in their food and underwear! :) I don't mind frogs too much, but having them all over my house would be disgusting, not to mention in the food!! :P And I'm sure they stepped on them (a fear of mine) since they were all over the place!! Gross!! What was wrong with this Pharoah guy?? Just let the people go already!!
    We made 96 frogs and hid them all over the house.....
    In the cup cupboard.....(some are in cups, too)
    ...on the stove top....
    in the fridge....
    by the light switches....
    in our shoes....
    under the toilet lid.....
    hiding IN the rolls of TP (can't wait to see who finds this one!! laughing)
    in our clean clothes.....
    found these on my desk chair when I came to sit at the computer!
    There are even some in our beds and under our pillows. stunned
    It's soon time to leave for sign language class, so we'll see where all we discover frogs tonight and get them cleaned up by bedtime! happy IF we can find Moses and Aaron to lift the plague!!
     More plague news tomorrow..... (ewww! A frog just jumped into my lap!!!! shocked shocked shocked)
    So I am taking a break from facebook. It didn't really bother me till I had an empty Sunday afternoon. I so badly wanted to see what was going on and I even went so far as to click on my facebook tab, but quickly closed it down before anything came up!!
     I just need to know that I can do this....I don't want to be addicted to opening facebook every couple hours everyday. It's been 4 days so far! happy I haven't really set a time....maybe a week, maybe 10 days, maybe less!??
     So we've been having the most beautiful weather this past week and it looks like it will continue into the coming week as well. It's so hard to want to get into indoor projects when it's so nice out, but I don't want my break from facebook to be wasted! I want to get some things organized in here! On Saturday the guys worked outside. Dan did some string trimming and also trimmed 2 shrubs that needed it yet. Then they put down more pine straw. We are getting unlimited pine straw from a friend from church, which is so nice. I think the guys went 4 times already and loaded the back of Dan's Jeep! We don't have much left to do....but things are looking much better around here!
     Tonight the Penner Family from Canada will be singing at church...this is not a normal church night, but since they were going to be in the area, we are having them! I am looking forward to hearing them, since we never have before....sounds like they have a great ministry to widows and others as well.
    I am searching and planning and searching and hoping! In July we will be married 15 years. Stepping back....when we were about to be married 10 years, we thought we'd do something special to mark our 10 year anniversary. But, we had just moved to FL and were in full time volunteer ministry. Money was scarce and it just was not an option. So we thought we would try for our 15 year anniversary. While things aren't a whole lot different financially, we do have some $$ put aside and as long as nothing else big comes up that we need that $$ for, we might be able to pull it off this time. (I hope!!) I want to go to St. Augustine, FL for a weekend. So I am researching to see what motels cost, what kind of attraction there are and in general how much it is going to cost. silly And I am hoping...and praying that this will work out. It's not real extreme, like a cruise (which I would LOVE to do) and it's not real far from home....but it would be so welcomed! heart We shall see!
    Have any of you been to St. Augustine? Any recommendations?
     This week we will be learning about the 10 plagues in Bible/History....hope to have lots of fun and get some good pics! We will be having our second to last American Sign Language class as well. Other than that, our week is empty for a change...well, maybe! We may spend part of a day with floridayankees and swap my knowledge of Xanga with her knowledge of doing messy buns! laughing
     I was so thrilled to find a skirt for the upcoming Ladies Tea Fundraiser in March. The theme is "The Nature of God's Love" and the colors are going to be hot pink and zebra print.
    I also got an outfit for Tamara but I think the shirt is a little tight. I got her a woman's small....thinking maybe I should try medium. (Is my daughter growing or what?? surprised)I may try to find something else....I'd also like to add hot pink accents somehow. Maybe a headband, flower, ribbon...something!
    Last night we went to see the Strength Team at the local High School. We had seen them 2 years ago and this time there were only 2 guys instead of 4, so they didn't do quite as much, but it was still good!! They have a great ministry to young people! It's amazing how strong they are!!
    Getting ready to smash 10 concrete slabs in half....
    ...success!
    Bending a metal rod over his head....made it into a fish shape!
     Have a great week, whether you are experiencing spring or getting another blast of winter! God is good!!
